Aaron Family Orchards

Shafter Aaron had to find more ways to care for his family. It is fairly true that though Wall Street fell, that many in this area of the country did not feel its effects, but everyone had to find something to help out their families. For Shafter and his four sons, this was Apples. He started operations in 1938, prior to the US entering World War II as a way to bring in just a little more income for his family. Right next to his house he started construction on what would would come to be known as "Aaron's Apple House". Now, Andy and Jennifer with their children Amanda, Jessica, Anna and Jacob Futch continue to carry on the family tradition. R & A Orchards has approximately 160 acres of fruits and vegetables.

Red Apple Barn

Years ago, there lived a good, hardworking, Christian man whose name was William Tobe (W.T.) Pritchett. W.T. was an avid gardener. His grandson, Barry, says he remembers ‘Pop’ standing propped up on his hoe…watching for weeds to grow. While looking at his father’s Stark Brothers Nursery catalogs, one of his sons, Marvin, would dream about the colorful apples pictured there… of someday raising beautiful apples like those.
